DT Day for Meljen's Designs - December 2013

Hello Lovelies!

I have the pleasure of sharing the last DT Day post for 2013 over at Meljen's Designs and it's a little Christmas inspiration for you all! I just love Christmas, I mean who doesn't love getting into the festive spirit.

Nobody said Christmas colours have to be red and green! I love using silver, pinks, green and teals....and I think you will soon agree that it's very effective! Plus Buddy the Fox 'Christmas Buddy' looks so cute all tangled up in xmas lights showcasing non traditional Xmas colours.

I coloured Buddy in with Copic Markers, the star sparkles with a little ice stickles and the xmas lights stand out with some glossy accents! Backing the image onto silver foil card makes it pop and ties in nicely with the red foil spots on the designer paper! All finished off with a little ribbon tags in coordinating colours and a dangling snowflake charm!

I hope I have inspired you to get a little creative this festive season! {hugs} Melinda xx

Meljen's Designs Challenge #187 - Black Out!

Good Morning!

Today, I am bringing you my Design Team Card for this week's Meljen's Challenge! This week it's "Black Out" (Use black cardstock as your card base)! You can enter the challenge and view all the fantastic design teams creations over at the blog!

It was recently my mum's birthday and I was so sick with this pregnancy that I didn't get around to making her a handmade card, so this was my inspiration today, a belated birthday card for mum!

I have chosen Miss Fancy Cat as my Meljen's Digi - mum, like me, just loves cats and she also wears glasses, so, as soon as I seen this little beauty I knew I had to give it to her!! Of course I used Black cardstock as my base, but went with the textured version! I also used scrap pieces of designer paper and teal card stock from my stash. The little bits of bling give it a fancy feel and link in with the silver on the ribbon and I finished it off with liquid pearls on her hat, glasses and necklace! I just love this card and I know mum will too!

So make sure you go and enter this week for your chance to win some gorgeous Meljen's Designs Digis of your own and why not join the fun on Facebook in the Meljen's Designs Club :)

And don't forget Meljen's is having a 50% off sale in her shop so there has never been a better time to get your hands on some gorgeous Meljen's Digis! Click HERE to go to the shop!

Good Morning!

Today, I am bringing you my Design Team Card for this week's Meljen's Challenge! This week it's Friends Forever (create a project for a friend)! You can enter the challenge and view all the fantastic design teams creations over at the blog!

I recently found out I am expecting a little girl! And of course my mind goes straight to all things girlie and pink! I know my little girl is going to be my best friend, forever and so I used that as my inspiration today!

I have chosen Simple Little Butterfly and Little Round Flowers as my Meljen's Digis! I used Kaszazz white and pink cardstocks, some leftover scraps of patterned paper (we all have loads of them lying around), pink ribbon from my leftovers stash and I stamped the background and sentiment with 2 different Stampin Up Stamps. To jazz it up a little I used ice stickles on the little swirls and dots :) I think it looks super cute and very feminine!

I have chosen Monkey Toes COLOR as my Meljen's Digi! I have ben so unwell this week and didn't have a lot of time so this pre-coloured image was perfect for a quick card! My five elements are the buttons and the "Cheeky Monkey" stamp is from Kaszazz and I thought it suited this theme well!

I used all Kaszazz products...the base is oatmeal cardstock, 5 buttons, and brown organdy ribbon :) I am really happy with the way it turned out!

A little "Thank You" for my colleagues...

With all the changes going on lately I realised how lucky I am to have many friends at work and a supportive management team, so I decided to make a little card to say thank you and to accompany a box of chocolates. I wanted to create something quick, clean and simple!

I used Oatmeal card base from Kaszazz, Stampin Up Stamps and Stampin Up Pens to colour :) Very happy with the rawness and simplicity!

Robot Birthday!!!

As promised, here I am with another blog post! This time I decided to make a card for a little boys birthday!

Hubby and I are trying to conceive a baby and for fun we often go and have a look at baby shops! I just love little robots and dinosaurs and although a healthy baby is all that matters, there are some really cute boys themes out, I think the days of me desperately wanting a little girl, mini me are past me, I really would be happy with either!!!

I am also in love with Meljen's Designs Digis and just had to buy a couple more, I could not resist Robbie the Robot!! He goes perfectly with the Little Yellow Bicycle - Fern & Forest Boy DSP I recently bought from my local scrapbooking shop Arnolds!

Again I have coloured with Copics, embellished with coordinating satin ribbon from Stampin' Up, added some fun little spiral clips from my stash, and finished it off with a bit of glossy accents on his 'buttons' and Platinum Liquid Pearl on the little dots.

With the current Meljen's Designs Challenge ~ Doodling in mind when creating, I have added the sentiment and stitched edging by hand with a Black Permaball Marker!

So that's it, a simple but very cute card for a little boy's birthday! I had so much fun making this card, I hope you enjoyed reading all about it!

❤ Fairy God Mother ❤

After a few months away from blogging due to health reasons I am back and possibly better than ever! I really missed getting creative and blogging but I am so glad I had time off! So I thought to celebrate being back I would revamp my blog (what do you think?) and put a day aside to craft (finally)!

So mum and I got together and I decided to make a card for my God Daughter Dakota's Naming Day which is in a few weeks! I recently made her a frame as my gift and wanted a card to match.

I decided to be a little different and not only theme her card to match her gift but also take the Fairy God Mother approach, seeing as though I am her God Mother and my speech makes reference to fairy tales and the roles of a Fairy God Mother in a little girls life.

I just had to use a Wee Stamps image I have because its such a cute little fairy! The papers and embellishments were easy to choose because I went with the same that I used for her frame. I have used Little Yellow Bicycle ~ Just Because paper and Stamin Up cardstock. Finished off with Stampin' Up ribbon, perfect pearls, ice stickles and Stampin' Up Pearls and it is just so cute!

I even had a go at Copics again which I haven't used in a while and even though I needed a little help from mum I think I did an awesome job!!!

Loving Ewe ~ Love You Much!

Another craft day with my mum today and we decided to create a card to submit for more challenges. I was inspired by Meljen's latest SKETCH challenge and thought I would use her super cute sheep Loving Ewe! Not only is he super cute but a nice easy image for me to colour with Copics!

I'm not entirely happy with this card as it is definitely out of my comfort zone using a sketch and circles but I think it's ok!

❤ Ewe are loved so much...

Another craft day with my mum today and we decided to create another card for some challenges. I went with a Bug-a-Boo free digi of the CUTEST SHEEPIE!!!!

I wanted to participate in a monochromatic challenge which is always a little challenging but I really love the end result! Pink is one of my favourite colours!

I also played a TIC-TAC-TOE challenge which is always a bit of fun! I used glitter (glittered ribbon and on his wings), ribbon and pearls!

I have used Stamin Up DSP and Copic Markers for the colouring along with lots of little embellishments I had lying around!

I couldn't resist making another card with my mum this afternoon and I just had to share it with you all! I just love this stamp from my stash ~ I just love kittens, having two furrbabies of my own!

Again I have coloured with copics and I think I have improved since earlier today :) I just love the paper, the colours and I have a huge weakness for buttons!!!

Happy 3rd Birthday Isaac!

Back again today with another post! I have a busy weekend next weekend with my Mum's 50th Birthday, my nephew Isaac's 3rd Birthday and my sister leaves for Europe for two years! Then I start back at work on the Monday :S That means I have been busy crafting cards for all those occassions this weekend, and I'm still not finished!!!

The birthday boy, Isaac, love love loves Dinosaurs and so I found this cute little pyjama set from target which has a dinosaur on the front. I really struggled to find a suitable stamp to match it so, I thought why not draw it myself (I'm not too bad at drawing when I have something to look at!)!!

So, I sat down with his pyjama set and my pencil and paper and drew a beautiful dinosaur to match! I'm really happy with the outcome and I know he is just going to love it and treasure it!!! I used Prisma Pencils to colour it in, Stampin Up cardstock and the sentiment comes from a Stampin' Up Dinosaur set!

I kept the card very simple because I wated my fabulous artwork to be the focal point (and besides that took long enough lol)!!! I took a photo of it with the shirt so you can see how great my drawing skills are hehe...I can't wait to give it to him, so, here it is...

A pink owl card for Bec's Baby Shower!

Recently, my step sister Rebecca found out she was pregnant with her fourth child! You could imagine that after having 3 boys she was soooo happy to find out she was having a GIRL!!! And I was so excited and happy for her that I cried when she broke the news to me!

Now, Bec always themese her baby rooms etc and this time she is going with pink (of course) and purple with an owl theme! I just knew I was going to have so much fun buying and creating girlie things!!!

Unfortunately, due to moving house I wasn't able to go to her Baby Shower but I wanted to get her a present and make her a special card anyway! So, I went to the craft shop and bought some gorgeous pink netting ribbon, some pretty pink cardstock and patterned paper and then went home and got out my Stampin' Up Owl Punch!

I came up with a great idea to make a card but was missing a scallop circle punch big enough to put the owl on so I went over to my mumsy's house and borrowed her Big Shot and Spellbinder Scallops! And this is what I came up with....with a little help from mum....I just kow that Bec is going to love it!!!! I'm very pleased with it myself!

And the inside...

Hanging Around ... Missing YOU!

So, today I decided to sit down and use one of my brand new Meljen's Digi that I won recently on a challenge! There latest challenge is Challenge #132 - Missing You! And I thought the Hanging Around Kitty I won would be perfect for this!

I just love cats (as you may already know) and wanted to make it more of a male card (well it could be either) - mainly because I had my husband in mind when creating it! We used to live in separate states so I used to buy (yes I know buy not make) cards to send him to tell him I love him and miss him terribly. Anyway, enough rambling, you probably want to see my card already, so here it is....

I'm really happy with it! I used Kaszazz papers, brown grosgrain ribbon from my stash, Glossy Accents and Fairy Dust for the swirls, Ranger Faded Jeans Distress Ink for the background and Prisma Pencils for the colouring! I just love it!! Thankyou again Meljen's for allowing me to win this digi!!

Potential 3CE Project for Kaszazz!

One of the great things about being a Kaszazz consultant is that I get to create projects which I then upload to a Consultant Only page to be voted on and if Kaszazz and other consultants love my work I can be asked to submit it as a 3CE project for workshops. We are very lucky to have a massive selection of workshops to choose from, so as a hobbyist it means endless inspiration and for business consultants a great tool to sell products!!!

I have submitted a few projects in the past and have had 2 successfully added to the gallery of projects! It's a great feeling having your work published and seeing your name in flashing lights, plus we are awarded with a generous prize (usually a voucher to buy more products or generous suprise pack)!!!

Recently, I made a card for a few challenges and based it on a retro sketches design. I loved it so much and so too did my family, friends and fellow Kaszazz consultants that I decided to add to it to make a set of 3 cards to submit as a potential 3CE project!! I still haven't been asked to submit it but it is early days and I have had a lot of votes that I made it to page 1 of Top Rated.

So, I wrote up some instructons and tested them with a small group of friends, ironed out the bugs and even made a colour variation! Now it's all ready to go and just waiting for that special email to say Congratulations please submit your project! I'm positive it will be in my inbox anyday now!!!

But for now I thought I would share with those of you who read my blog! The first photo is the original set (my favourite) and the second photo is the colour variation.

Just beautiful, aren't they!!??!! Now I'm going to head into my craft cave and get creative for a few blog challenges I want to enter! I will no doubt post again soon :)

Getting into the Halloween Spirit!

Back Again! The joy of having a Saturday to my self means plenty of time to craft and blog!!! At least there is plenty of inspiration and creativity flowing :)

At the moment a few blog challenges are focusing on Halloween which can be very hard here in Australia as it isn't celebrated like it is overseas, but I thought why not play along! I searched a few of my favourite digi stores for a halloween image and found the cutest image on Meljen's Digi Shop called Mummy Kitty! It reminded me of one of my adorable kittens ~ Tessah and so I just had to buy it! This is Tessah ...

Isn't she just adorable!!??!! Anyway,I coloured the image using Prisma Colour Pencils and found a cute digi paper freebie on Bearly Mine Designs which has gorgeous detailing to it and went along with the halloween theme. I also added some ribbon to give the card a handmade feel which is super cute in orange and black! So here it is...

Fly High - Be Free Retro Sketch Inspired Card!

I'm back with my second post for today! So, as I said before I armed myself with a list of challenges today and set aside some time to get creative! I decided to focus my next little crafty session on Retro Sketches Challenge #31 for the layout of my card and then use other challenges to form the "design" of the card.

I am so pleased with what I came up with, clean and simple and showcasing Kaszazz products of course!!! I am even thinking of creating a workshop of 3 cards for Kaszazz around this idea because I think it is just lovely! So here it is....what do you think?

Armed with challenges and creativeness!

After a week with so much going on I have finally attacked my list of challenges I want to enter and I have found the time to get creative. I have found challenges to be an inspiring way to get creative because it makes me think about what I am going to craft and sometimes I have to go a little out of my comfort zone!

I am really pleased with this simple set of 3 cards I made using all Kaszazz products (some of the products have been retired). I love bright colours teamed up with crisp white cardstock! I also love distressing ink around the edges to create effect and even to mimick things such as grass (as displayed in the blue card). And the added touch of glitter makes these beautiful cards sparkle! These cards showcase beautiful dragonflies, flowers, ezy press embossing, distressing, and 3D effects. So here they are....
